Running - dammed flies :(

Went for a lovely run in the Peak this evening, but all the way around I was plagued by half a dozen flies that just buzzed around my head and kept trying to land - for over an hour.

I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions for reducing the problem? (other than running faster!)
