Preparing photos for the Internet
by Nick Smith 9th February 2006
You might find this article that I wrote for UKClimbing.com last year of interest if you are struggling to resize your photos for using on a website:
"We kick off the series with how best to resize your scanned or digital photos down to a size suitable for using on the Internet. Hundreds of photographs in the UKClimbing galleries are ruined by uploading them at the wrong size (too big to view comfortably or too small to appreciate the details), or by saving them with the wrong JPEG settings."
The article covers:
- Resizing your photos
- Sharpening after resizing
- Saving as a JPEG
- Check before uploading to the Internet
and also has links to many popular graphics packages - both those that are free to download, and commercial packages.
