PlanetFear in the Costa Blanca

by Nick Smith 12th March 2007

I was invited along on this PlanetFear Coaching Holiday as team photographer. We were blessed with perfect weather, everyone had a great time and got in some brilliant routes. The weather often begged to have a polarising filter put on the lens, and I was particularly pleased with some of the 28mm wide angle shots that I came back with.

It was great working with coaches Katherine Schirrmacher and Lucy Creamer. We managed to get in a day of climbing at Gandia on the Wednesday while the clients had a much-needed rest day. A couple of the stand-out routes I climbed were Tufa-Groove at Olta and Pepestroika at Gandia. Katherine has a full trip report up on the PlanetFear site.

We stayed at the Orange House near Sella which was excellent, although unfortunately the owners Sam and Rich were away on holiday so we didn't get to see much of them. Some drama was provided by very high winds one night, and I thought that the wooden 'wendy house' I was sleeping in was going to be blown away ala The Wizard of Oz ! grin
