Getting back into running
by Nick Smith 11th April 2008
My running is very much stop/start unfortunately: a couple of months of regular running and then a few months off, either because of injury or a lack of motivation. I had a series of nasty colds in December/January last year and didn't want to risk any aerobic exercise, which then ended up turning into 4 months with no running!
I've just started again this month, with a few runs on the treadmill, but I got outside this morning and did my first 'proper' run on the year
It was a 9km loop around part of Ladybower reservoir in the Peak, around 50% on a good trail and 50% on tarmac. I had a great time running it with Dave, but even the tiny little inclines were causing me problems! The weather was quite spectacular as well - by the time we finished it was hammering it down with rain/sleet and it was only 3°C !
I'm looking forward to getting outside again for more regular runs on some good trails, get my weight and times back down again to what they were this time last year. I'd prefer if it was a little warmer though... ![]()
