First 10 mile race - please sponser me!
by Nick Smith 26th April 2007I'm running the Derwent Dambuster Challenge at the weekend, which is a 10 mile trail race - the furthest I've ever run in my life! I'm running it with my mate, Dinkypen, so I'm relying on her experience to set us a sensible pace. The forecast for Saturday is for another scorcher - lots of water required!
All money raised is going to Challenge Cancer Through Adventure, a great Peak-based cancer charity.
You can sponser me online, and read more about the race & the charity here:

Many thanks!
Update 30/Apr/07: The race was great fun, but I couldn't walk at all yesterday, and I'm still hobbling a bit today
Hopefully the swelling will be gone by tomorrow, as I want to go climbing!!
The first 7 miles were really nice, but once the pain started in my knee, I just wanted it to be over! If it hadn't been a race for charity, I'd have probably dropped out about 8 miles and got the bus back.
There is a thread discussing the race at: UKClimbing.com.
